Day 5: Back to Work, Up Early & The Beast Is Hungry

Its Back to Work today so the Challenge will take a different dimension. Not only am I trying to Stay Vegetarian while at work but also skip out on the ‘crap’ food. Anyone who works in an Office will tell you this is really hard. I am however very proud of myself for surviving my first Meat Free Weekend! (Read: Saturday / Sunday)

Teddy had spent the day at my Mum & Dads and he had been sufficiently worn out enough to fall asleep at 6 and not wake up for any dinner. So on the one hand we would get a quiet evening but on the other it was almost guaranteed to be an early morning. After much waking up from about 4ish onwards, I soon found myself downstairs watching Fireman Sam. Wishing someone would kidnap the annoying ginger kind Norman – seriously if they did the village would have zero problems.

Breakfast

Being up early I was super hungry before I’d even got to Work today. But I thought I would hold out a bit until I got to Work and was at my desk. Just so it might keep me fuller while at Work and less tempted to stray.

Were keeping it light today – I’m going back to my Slimming World group tonight so Monday means light food in prep for a good weigh in 😉

I’ve developed a bit of a think recently for Yogurt Drinks which is very odd considering a little while ago the idea of them really turned my stomach. After getting addicted to Morrisons Blueberry version I felt ready to branch out and try some more. These offerings by ASDA weren’t too bad, a little thin and had an undertone of ‘twang’ but its better than a kick in the nuts. 7.5/10 would consume again.

Really getting into the concept of these Shot thingys – although rather than shot it down I’ve been putting them in a little bowl and grazing on them. Of these 3 the Orange & Chocolate Seed ones were the best but the Berrys in all of them are really sweet and really nice.

Lunch

Cauldron Falafel with Side Salad & Sunblushed Tomato Houmous (and Cheesestrings because I’m 5 and cheese tastes even better when its fun!)

First lunch back at Work and the Falafel & Houmous combo is back out again, Think I’m going to have to mix it up a bit soon though – as nice as it is I don’t want to get bored of it!

 

Exercise

Lets take it up a notch! Monday night is Badminton night – had a couple of weeks off due to Sickness & Bank Holiday but I was back.

My favorite Badminton Racket – Recently Resurrected by New Grip Tape & Strings

I love playing Badminton. Monday Night at Blackwater Leisure Center is a mixed group and anyone can come along. We tend to keep cycling through people and mixing teams up. On a good day I can be second to none. On a bad day I get clumsy and slow. Last night was a very good day. I haven’t moved around the court like I did in a very long time. Since before I was in Hospital a few years ago. Someone asked me what I had been doing. I told them I’d discovered this really amazing thing called ‘Salad’. Many laughs were had!

Slimming World Group

Tonight was our time to return to our Slimming World group after a few weeks absence. We hadn’t been following plan and had been doing whatever we wanted. Something I could tell by the way my body was behaving before I started this challenge. Roll around to today and I feel great – its amazing what some Vegetables can do to you. I can also officially say after weigh in last night, I’m back down to my lowest ever weight – the weigh in after a week of the challenge is looking golden already!

 

Dinner

We tried something different for dinner tonight. (Bit of a crap picture though!)

You might think this isnt that different but for me it really is. Normally when it comes to Pizza I’d have a whole one. A Large one. And Chips. And Garlic Bread….I know… So to trim it down to half a pizza with a side salad (A large one at that) is a bit of a drastic change. It was a Monday night, it had been a hard day at Work and i’d played Badminton & been to Slimming World group. So it was late before we could cook dinner and a Pizza was the perfect answer. The Ristorante Pizzas are a particular favorite of mine and a staple food when I did a similar vegetarian stint years and years ago.
